A walk for the love of leash-free dogs

 SANTA CRUZ - Nearly 150 dogs and their owners marched down West Cliff Drive on Saturday afternoon to rally for the future of leashless canines in the city's only de facto dog park. In November 2007, the city's lease on the land of Its Beach and Lighthouse Field on West Cliff Drive will come to an end. The state plans to take over management of the property and reverse Santa Cruz's policy that allows dogs to run off-leash there before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. The state owns the land, but the city leases and manages it.  [Read the Rest of this Story]
