'Bomb dogs' take bite out of Taliban

 KANDAHAR -- Man's best friend? Maybe that should be a soldier's best friend. Specially trained "bomb dogs" are taking on bigger security roles in Afghanistan. "We've been using the dogs both here in camp to avoid any explosives getting on to the camp, as well as we have them embedded in all of our Canadian companies out in the field," says Maj. Jeff Harvey, provost marshal for the Canadians in Afghanistan. "They (also) provide support for the dismounted patrols, again for explosive detection."
